There are 5 stages in the recovery process: Denial, Awareness, Acceptance, Insight and Meaning. What do you think you can do to move from "Denial" stage to "Meaning" stage?

It can take years but one must know that whatever it is, it is NOT their fault of their own losses, be it their own lost of mental health, physical health and lose of their love ones and then one must have the bravery to share their emotions to be heard because they should know, whatever stages in grief, nothing is indeed too taboo. It is important to grief as it is healthy and it will gain some self-awareness over time. It will get better as our bodies has limits.

From denial to progress fwd is impt to take proactive baby steps of recovery. The journey of recovery is very impt as each journey is unique to each individual, tho we learn from others. Lastly, it is impt to actively seek a supportive community as part our eco-system to help steer us unto the route of recovery. For me, I sought help from my eldest brother & a selected church friends that met me regularly to help me in my recovery from clinical depression.

To accept that mental illness is just like any physical condition that can be treated and recovery is possible so long as I don’t give up hope. Since I’ve chemical inbalance in my brain, I just need to use medication to deal with it as like diabetic patients who need insulin and asthmatic patients who need ventolin. I don’t have to feel ashamed at all and can overcome it to be an inspiration to others. This would give me an extra boost of motivation to continually sustain my wellness.

Continued: 4th take small steps to achieve your goal. It is ok to fail. just keep trying. 5th Celebrate every success. And start forming new coping strategies because at every stage of life, new skills are needed. what works at pri 1 get out of bed coping skill will not work at a office job coping skill. So keep learning. Sad to say this level 5 skill mainly availble in private sector. I don't hear much of such skill taught in local hospital include IMH.

To move from Denial to Meaning Step 1 seek help to control the symptoms through a trained doctor. 2nd Understand triggers and the roots of your issues through a trained mental health psychologist or counselor. 3rd Set a measurable goal for yourself. meaning what job. what kind of working hours. environment or study. to be continued...

(Contd) Acceptance stage: Seek medical/professional help, participate actively in own recovery programme, join good support groups; To move forward from the Insight stage: Share our experiences with others, help those who are just starting out in their recovery journey

To move forward from Denial stage: Be open and honest to oneself; Awareness stage: Listen to feedback from friends and family, admit to oneself the need for help; (to be do contd)

take small baby steps, one step at a time, to progress from one stage to the next better stage, till the "Meaning" stage, with family support and professional help along the way.
